Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an Executive Director to lead BRA’s next phase of growth. With expanded virtual services and over seven locations across Middle TN, Northeast TN (Bristol & Kingsport), and Florida (Panama City Beach), BRA is looking for a leader to design and execute a strategic plan to advance the mission of the organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is energized by people, purpose, and progress. As Executive Director, you will serve as the face of BRA—leading strategy, driving fundraising, and building the relationships that sustain and expand BRA’s impact.

While this role is remote, it is not behind-the-scenes. Success in this role comes from being actively engaged in the community—building connections, attending events, cultivating donors, and representing BRA in meaningful, visible ways. You’ll partner with a committed Board and a passionate network of volunteers and contractors—bringing both structure and heart to a mission that deeply matters.

Job Responsibilities

BRA is a community at its core. Our mission is delivered through trust and respect. A successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for our mission and the ability to lead growth while maintaining our collaborative culture.

  1. Fundraising & Development
  • Execute and evolve BRA’s annual fundraising strategy.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, sponsors, and foundations.
  • Partner with the Development Committee to diversify and expand revenue streams beyond signature events.
  • Oversee grant writing, reporting, and donor communications.
  • Support and guide fundraising events (including OctoBRAfest), ensuring strong donor engagement and long-term sustainability.
  1. Program Oversight & Community Engagement
  • Ensure survivor-centered care is at the core of all service delivery.
  • Oversee the quality and consistency of all BRA programs, ensuring research-based approaches remain the foundation of exercise, nutrition, and emotional support offerings.
  • Lead and direct all independent contractors, manage contracts and negotiations, and approve programming schedules.
  • Provide leadership and support to volunteer facilitators and trainers.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and impact data.
  • Represent BRA at community events, healthcare partnerships, and public speaking opportunities.
  1. Organizational Growth & Infrastructure
  • Identify operational efficiencies and implement system improvements.
  • Develop scalable processes to reduce founder dependency.
  • Evaluate expansion opportunities in partnership with Board committees.
  • Build internal clarity around roles, responsibilities, and volunteer engagement.
  1. Strategic & Board Leadership
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors.
  • Partner with the Governance, Development, and Programs Committees to align strategy with execution.
  • Provide regular operational, financial, and impact reporting to the Board.
  • Translate board-level strategy into clear operational plans with measurable outcomes.
  1. Operations & Administration
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for organizational operations.
  • Oversee budget management in partnership with the Treasurer and Governance Committee.
  • Ensure financial oversight, compliance, and reporting integrity.
  • Supervise the bookkeeper, member coordinator, trainers, marketing staff, nutritionist, and other contractors or part-time support.
  • Manage insurance coverage and maintain compliance readiness.
  • Handle key communications and systems, including:
    • Managing the Info@ inbox with timely responses.
    • Overseeing database integrity and member records (may delegate, but remains accountable).
    • Approving and scheduling mission-aligned social media posts.
    • Coordinating and distributing monthly member calendars.
    • Ensuring consistent communication with staff and volunteers.

  • Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors.
