Description
Our Customer is seeking highly skilled Field Test Engineers to support the commissioning, testing, acceptance, and customer training of submarine cable systems at global cable landing stations. This role is part of Our Customers Network Testing and Terminal Organization and does not involve shipboard testing. This is a contract, as‑needed deployment role, with frequent repeat engagements for high-performing engineers and potential long-term or permanent consideration. Key Responsibilities Commissioning & Testing Commission and acceptance-test submarine fiber-optic cable systems at international cable landing stations Test power and telecom equipment including OTDRs, OSAs, optical transmission, and terminal equipment Provide marine support upon site arrival, followed by commissioning activities Coordinate and execute testing between multiple global sites simultaneously Training & Knowledge Transfer Deliver customer training at the conclusion of commissioning Provide classroom and hands-on training (typically 3–4 days) Train customer personnel to operate and maintain systems post-commissioning Present confidently to 10–12 person groups (public speaking required) Collaboration & Autonomy Initially integrate with field teams, then operate independently once qualified Interface directly with customers, engineering teams, and marine operations Work Environment Central-office–style cable landing stations (controlled environment) 48V DC power and terrestrial transport equipment Hotel-based lodging near sites; locations vary globally (Saudi Arabia, Fiji, Tonga, etc.) Travel & Schedule Extensive international travel required Deployments typically 2–6+ weeks, with repeat trips common Must be able to work up to 12 hours/day, 7 days/week, depending on customer access Some customers restrict Sunday work pushes for maximum access
