Job Description and Duties

Work in a project lead capacity, creating and producing technical publications and design materials at the highest level for; print, on-line publishing, interpretive displays, and multi-media utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud. Serve as a high-level specialist responsible for the development and production of the most complex graphic design work with an emphasis on the approach, project management, design, production, and coordination for technical reports and public affairs materials. Responsible for the analysis and design development of data driven graphics for print, social media, and web. Preparation of files to meet ADA compliance requirements. Evaluate and develop overall communications strategies to inform and/or educate the public or to establish and/or enhance the department's communications projects, programs, and services.

Special Requirements

Incumbent may be required to assemble, install, and remove temporary or permanent displays and/or exhibits for indoor or outdoor use. Duties require normal or corrected vision and normal color vision. Rarely, statewide travel is required. Ability to lift and transport materials, display systems, and equipment up to 30 lbs. may be required. Evening and weekend overtime work may be required.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

T he ideal candidate must possess artistic and creative abilities, experience in digital design development and production, and preferably knowledge of traditional design production. Excellent communication skills are critical, both oral and written. Skills in the visual interpretation of technical data are highly beneficial. Knowledge on how to create simple motion graphics is a plus. The incumbent must also work cooperatively with others and exercise good judgment.
