St. John Neumann Academy (Blacksburg, VA) is a fully accredited (MSA), faith-based school committed to academic excellence and the formation of the whole child. We are seeking a Middle School History and Civics Teacher for grades 6–8 to engage students in thoughtful, inquiry-based exploration of history, government, and citizenship. The ideal candidate is a passionate and dedicated educator who fosters critical thinking, encourages respectful dialogue, and inspires students to become informed and responsible citizens, all within a Christ-centered environment. This can be a full-time or part-time position depending on the preference of the applicant.

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in U.S. History, World Geography, and Civics/Economics
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and formative assessments
• Integrate primary sources, current events, and discussion-based learning to deepen understanding
• Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance instruction
• Support students’ development of critical thinking and writing skills
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and classroom activities
• Uphold and model the school’s mission and values in daily interactions
• Collaborate with fellow middle school teachers on interdisciplinary projects
• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development

• Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Middle School History/Civics Education (or in progress)
• Teaching experience preferred, especially at the middle school level
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
• Passion for working with middle school students
• Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a faith-filled school community

• Proficiency with educational technology tools, such as Google Classroom
