Position: Registered Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: San Luis Obispo, California, United States
Start date: 04/20/2026
Assignment duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 12 hours each (3x12 nights per week)
Weekly pay: $1,999–$2,074 per week
Setting: Home Healthcare - Hospice
Employment type: Travel - Temporary Assignment

Responsibilities
- Provide planning, coordination, and direct nursing care for neonates in the NICU during assigned night shifts
- Develop and implement individualized care plans; administer prescribed medications; monitor for physiological changes and adverse events
- Assess psychosocial needs of neonates and provide family education and support
- Document observations, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the chart; communicate changes to the multidisciplinary team
- Supervise and delegate tasks to CNA and other ancillary staff within their scope of practice
- Cross-train and float to pediatric care as needed to maintain high-quality coverage and patient safety

Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in California
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience or recent pediatric critical care experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred or must be willing to obtain
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a home healthcare - hospice setting
- Strong clinical assessment, care planning, and documentation skills
- Effective communication with families and interdisciplinary teams; willingness to float to pediatric care when required
